Armed Forces Covenant

An historic event is taking place on 4th December 2019 at the Baitul Futuh Mosque, in Morden, Surrey – the signing of the Armed Forces Covenant.

The Armed Forces Covenant is a promise by the nation ensuring that those who serve or who have served in the Armed Forces, and their families, are treated fairly.

It is made up of two simple principles. Firstly, that no member of the Armed Forces community should feel disadvantaged when it comes to receiving public or commercial services, and secondly, that special consideration should be given when required, such as to injured veterans or the bereaved.

In signing the Armed Forces Covenant, Charity Walk for Peace recognises the value serving personnel, reservists, veterans and military families bring to our business. We will seek to uphold the principles of the Armed Forces Covenant, by:

  1. Promoting the fact that we are an armed forces-friendly organisation;
  2. Seeking to support our faith group members who choose to be members of the Reserve forces, including by accommodating their training and deployment where possible;
  3. Seeking to support our faith group members who choose to be volunteer leaders in military cadet organisations;
  4. Aiming to actively participate in Armed Forces Day;
  5. Offering support to members of the Armed Forces Community;
  6. Participating each year in fundraising activities for the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal

We want to make sure we do all we can to support the veteran community as an organisation. By implementing the Armed Forces Covenant on an organisational level, we are endeavouring  to put our commitment into practice.
